Protected by the Rioja appellation, Bodegas Manzanos owns 250 hectares in D.O. Ca. Rioja and controls an additional 700 hectares, with 50 hectares in D.O. Navarra and control over 525 more, totaling 1,525 hectares. To ensure top-quality grapes, Manzanos has invested significantly in converting traditional goblet-trained vineyards to trellises. This transition has optimized physiological balance, enhancing grape maturity and ecological potential. Drip irrigation across all vineyards ensures consistent water stability, fostering superior grape quality.
The region’s climatic conditions—cold, wet winters and hot, dry summers, with less than 300 liters of rainfall per square meter—create ideal conditions for vine health, balanced maturity, and high-quality viticulture, setting the stage for exceptional wines.
Celebrating the Essence of Spanish Wines
Bodegas Manzanos spans all sub-areas of the Rioja appellation, each defined by unique climate-land-plant interactions and refined production techniques overseen by Borja Ripa, Manzanos Wines’ oenologist and technical director. These elements synergize to impart distinctiveness to each wine, showcasing the terroir’s diversity and grape variety characteristics.
Exclusively Superior Grape Varieties
Manzanos specializes in renowned red grape varieties such as Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano, and Mazuelo, along with award-winning white wines crafted from Viura and Chardonnay. Tempranillo, the quintessential Rioja grape, thrives in the region’s climatic and soil conditions, yielding wines noted for their balance in alcohol, color, acidity, and velvety, fruity palate evolution with aging.
Graciano, a lesser-known variety, plays a crucial role in Manzanos’ Reservas and Gran Reservas, imparting body, structure, aroma, and color to complement Tempranillo. Garnacha and Mazuelo round out their red grape portfolio, each contributing unique vigor, acidity, and oxidative characteristics.

In April, Sheridan Coopers had the pleasure of taking some of our fantastic customers on an unforgettable journey to Rioja, where they experienced the exceptional Spanish wines at the renowned Bodegas Manzanos winery.
Our team and guests were treated to unparalleled hospitality by the Manzanos team, who ensured every detail was perfect. The VIP tour of Bodegas Manzanos included breathtaking views of Rioja, offering a picturesque backdrop to a tutored tasting that showcased the true quality and craftsmanship behind these wines.
Exploring the main winery and vineyards was just the beginning. We also visited the historic birthplace of Manzanos, the oldest winery in Rioja, immersing ourselves in the rich history of this award-winning wine producer. This fascinating glimpse into their heritage deepened our appreciation for their exceptional wines.
To top off the visit, we embarked on the famous Tapas Trail, savouring delicious bites late into the evening. This perfect blend of education, enjoyment, and culinary delight made our trip to one of Europe’s most celebrated winemaking regions truly memorable.
