Introducing Signature Brew

BEER THAT MAKES MUSIC BETTER

Signature Brew is redefining the concept of a brewery. They are on a mission to unite people through the power of fresh beer, great music, and unforgettable experiences. Operating from their state-of-the-art brewery and music venue on Blackhorse Road in London, Signature Brew is crafting a world of exceptional beer and music, all centred around people, passion, and creativity. Their dedication to community and environmental responsibility has earned them the prestigious SIBA Brewery of The Year Award twice, in 2018 and 2021.

THE STORY SO FAR

In 2011, Tom Bott and Sam McGregor founded Signature Brew, starting with a collaboration beer with The Rifles at The Troxy in Shoreditch. The following year, they continued their unique blend of beer and music by teaming up with bands like Enter Shikari, Dry The River, Craig Finn, and Mastodon.

In 2015, Signature Brew made a significant leap by opening their own brewery in Leyton, which allowed for increased production and better quality control. They celebrated with a beer release at a warehouse party with Heck. In 2016, they introduced their core lineup—Studio Lager, Roadie, Backstage IPA, and Nightliner—alongside a collaboration with Millencolin.

2017 was a busy year, with Signature Brew making a splash at Slam Dunk Festival alongside The Bronx, Frank Iero, and Against Me! They also served at the Foo Fighters’ pop-up pub and poured at The Killers and Metallica shows. Collaborations that year included Slaves, Rodney P, and The Skints. In 2018, they were honored with SIBA’s Brewery Business of The Year and opened the Taproom & Venue in Haggerston, releasing beers with Lightyear, alt-J, and Mogwai.

In 2020, they launched the innovative ‘Pub In A Box,’ with deliveries handled by unemployed musicians, and gained features in GQ, Timeout, and LADbible. Collaborations included Norway’s Nøgne Ø, Sports Team, DRS, Dynamite MC, and The Darkness.

2021 was another milestone year, as Signature Brew was crowned SIBA’s Brewery Business of the Year for the second time, along with receiving another SIBA Marketing Award. They launched Signature Brew Beer Grants to support independent venues, took their stage to Bigfoot Festival with beers from Hot Chip, Pigs x7, Big Joanie, and The Wytches, and hosted the Dialled In Festival, featuring a surprise set from Skrillex. They also hosted comedy gigs from Ed Gamble and Tim Key and organized a charity BBQ cook-off with Michelin-star chefs.

COMPANY CULTURE

Signature Brew is dedicated to crafting great beer and making a positive impact on the world. They champion equality, diversity, and inclusion among their team members and subcontractors, actively working to eliminate discrimination. Their goal is to have a team that reflects all parts of society and their customers, making sure every employee feels respected and valued.

They also uphold these values with their customers, ensuring that no one faces discrimination. Beyond brewing unique beers with musicians and bands, Signature Brew partners with various charities to support important causes. In 2020, they teamed up with Other Half NYC and the women of Manchester Punk Festival to raise funds for the hospitality sector and NHS Charities Together, in celebration of International Women’s Day. They also support Off Tracks, a group of independent DJs raising money through live-streamed charity gigs, and regularly contribute to CoppaFeel events to fight breast cancer.

Sustainability and eco-friendliness are core to Signature Brew’s operations. Their brewhouse uses a highly efficient steam boiler that recycles heat energy from one brew to the next. For instance, cooling one batch of beer generates the heat needed for the next one. They package their beers in cans, which are easier to recycle, lighter, and more energy-efficient in transportation. Plus, cans cool faster, saving energy in the process.

They also prioritize making their beer accessible, focusing on vegan-friendly options. Many of the artists they collaborate with, and members of their team are vegan, so they proudly brew beer that everyone can enjoy. Their beers are vegan by default, with a few rare exceptions. They achieve clarity in their brews using a high-tech centrifuge to remove solids, avoiding the need for chemical additives, isinglass (fish-based finings), or gelatine.
