The event of the year!
The Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6th May, 2023. The Service will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury and reflect the Monarch’s role today as well as looking towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry.
Across the Coronation Weekend, there will be further opportunities for people to come together in celebration of the historic occasion. On Sunday, 7th May 2023, a special Coronation Concert will be staged and broadcast live at Windsor Castle by the BBC and BBC Studios, with several thousand pairs of tickets to be made available via public ballot. The Coronation Big Lunch, at which neighbours and communities are invited to share food and fun together, will take place across the country on the same date.
On Monday, 8th May 2023, members of the public will be invited to take part in The Big Help Out, which will encourage people to try volunteering for themselves and join the work being undertaken to support their local areas.
Their Majesties The King and The Queen Consort hope the Coronation Weekend will provide an opportunity to spend time and celebrate with friends, families and communities across the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth. Their Majesties are looking forward to marking the occasion with the public throughout 2023.
Celebrate at your venue for the special bank holiday!
A garden party is the perfect British celebration and all you need is an outdoor space! Hang up the bunting, get the picnic benches out and make sure that you provide your customers with a sunny atmosphere (even if the unpredictable British weather decides to rain). Get drinks flowing with special offers that will drive customers through your door and make sure they stay there. Set up a pop-up bar outside for easy drinking with British classics such as Pimm’s and London Dry Gin. And, of course, get the bubbles flowing, ready for customers to toast this momentous occasion.
If you do not have outdoor space, then bring the bunting indoors and get decorating! There are plenty of ways to really dress up a venue such as getting your staff to wear costumes, or hanging flags throughout your venue. Another easy way to draw in customers is to get the celebrations on your TV screens and play some great British tunes when the service is over! Bring the party to your business. You can even offer something new to the menu for the weekend, such as an afternoon tea, or a special cocktail. Make sure to get all your plans on social media as well as advertising in your venue for the best turn out on the day.
The quintessentially English summertime drink. Make a Number 1 cup with cucumber, lemon, strawberries, mint and good quality lemonade. Pimm’s itself has a gin base, and offers subtle spices and citrus flavours.
Smooth and delicate, balance of cereal and fruit flavours with pink peppercorn finish. Enjoy with just a bit of ice or shake with ice and fresh lime juice, strain, add crushed iced and top with ginger beer and a wedge of lime.
This wine is fresh and aromatic, it has aromas of gooseberry, cassis bud and green pineapple on the nose, followed by a zesty palate of pithy pink grapefruit. A classic English Bacchus.
Sea Salt crisps continue to reign in popularity and are the perfect accompaniment to almost anything. What could be better than a beautifully fried crisp with a sprinkling of sea salt…
